Trevor harding drives into Holiday Taxis as non-executive director - Holiday Taxis press article - 31 Jan 2008
Travel industry statesman Trevor Harding is set to join the board of leading independent transfer firm Holiday Taxis as non-executive director.
Harding will join the board from February 1 and will work with chief executive and founder Paul Stanyer and his team on strategy for the six year-old company. Harding is the former publisher and managing director and now lifetime vice-president of foremost industry publication Travel Weekly.
Stanyer commented: "It's a huge coup for Holiday Taxis to get someone with Trevor's standing within the industry as a non-executive director. This is going to be an important year for Holiday Taxis as we have ambitious growth plans in place to double the size of our business.
"We are delighted to welcome Trevor to the team, with his industry status and 30 years' experience he'll be a huge asset to the business and will be an important ambassador for us. This appointment shows how far we have come in the past six years and clearly shows the rest of the industry that Holiday Taxis truly is the market-leader of the UK transfer sector."
Harding added: "Having looked closely at Holiday Taxis I felt this was a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and successful organisation with a huge future in the industry. What Paul and the team have achieved from nothing in such a short space of time is very impressive."
Harding began his travel industry career in 1978 when he became publisher of Travel Trade Gazette. In 1989 he joined Reed Travel Group, heading up publications such as Travel News , Executive Travel and Gazetteers. Two years later, he was responsible for relaunching Travel News as Travel Weekly and was the publication's publisher until September 2007.
As well as the President of the Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) , Harding has served as chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association UK Chapter and President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Travel Industry Group.
The majority shareholder Stephen Dean, now reports to Stanyer.
Where2Guv sales and marketing functions are likely to operate through Holiday Taxis.
The taxi broker's website operates on a "postcode to postcode" basis and Stanyer wants to adapt its technology to other countries, making Holiday Taxis an "all-round transport solution" for anyone overseas, rather than just transfers for holidaymakers.
Where2Guv prices through Holiday Taxis are likely to be reduced by up to 15%.
Holiday Taxis' business arm, Business Taxis, is also expected to benefit, as Where2Guv's UK corporate clients will be offered deals for overseas travel.
